Our firm

ENKOP is a Nairobi-based strategic convening and implementation company advancing climate finance, clean energy and sustainable development across Africa.

Between a pledge and a working project sit the deal, the partners and the supply chain. That is where we work.

We start with the people who have to agree, and we finish where the work is done: on site, and on the record.

How we work

  1. Convene

    Start with who has to say yes. Our founder led partnerships and resource mobilisation for the Africa Climate Summit under the Government of Kenya. We build the table before the plan.

  2. Connect

    Put a name against each part: who pays, whose platform, whose ground. In Tanzania that was an FSD Africa grant, Verst Carbon’s platform and the National Food Reserve Agency’s depots.

  3. Catalyse

    Test whether the market exists before building for it. For Phase 1 of the Africa Biochar Aggregation Platform we asked 1,013 farmers whether they burn crop residue, would supply it, and would use biochar.

  4. Deliver

    Go and look. At Mwea we inspected three of the nine stages of a biochar supply chain, and listed the six we have not documented yet.

    Strategic convening

    Built on the team’s work for the Africa Climate Summit: neutral convening that brings governments, financial institutions, development partners and private-sector actors to the same table, through working groups and forums designed to end in decisions, not just conversations.

    Partnership development

    Partnerships designed on purpose, not by accident: the governance, legal architecture, benefit-sharing and accountability that let partners with different mandates and risk appetites bring financing, technology and delivery capacity together.

  3. 03 / 05

    Project and platform development

    From first concept to a bankable, investor-ready proposal: carbon market platforms including biochar carbon removal and nature-based solutions, blended finance vehicles, clean energy programmes and sustainable agriculture value chains, designed to meet the standards of registries, development finance institutions and private capital.

  4. 04 / 05

    Market and ecosystem building

    Work at the level of the whole system: the policies, standards, market infrastructure and actor networks that turn individual projects into functioning sectors, from carbon market activation to clean energy value chains and regenerative agriculture.

  5. 05 / 05

    Implementation support

    Delivery on the ground, as at Mwea in July 2026: working alongside local partners, cooperatives, government agencies and community structures, with project management, monitoring and evaluation built in from the start.

    Inspecting the supply chain

    Biochar carbon removal only holds up if the feedstock behind it is real, traceable and consistent. In July 2026 the ENKOP team travelled to Mwea to inspect both ends of that chain for our partner Pure Plant Organics.

    For Phase 1 of Verst Carbon’s Africa Biochar Aggregation Platform, ENKOP ran 1,013 farmer interviews across eight National Food Reserve Agency depot catchments in Tanzania. Phase 1 was completed in March 2026.

    Biochar in animal feed: a quiet intervention with systemic implications

    Biochar does not deliver headline gains in feed conversion. What it offers instead is resilience: cleaner manure, healthier soils, and a feedback loop that reconnects livestock and land in ways industrial agriculture deliberately broke.
